Documents needed to visit Egypt
How to get into Egypt?
This article is, without a doubt, the best resource out there. It was written for people planning a trip to Egypt and for people who aren’t sure what steps to take and what paperwork they need to bring to visit Egypt as a tourist.
Not only that, but we also know that people who want to visit Egypt have many questions before they get there. If you’re unsure what documents you’ll need to enter Egypt, you won’t be after reading our complete guide.
Do I need to bring anything with me to Egypt?
To get into Egypt, you need a visa, two photos the size of a passport, and a passport or valid paper identity card for expatriates that is valid for at least six months after the entry date. We can’t give you a visa to enter the country without these things.
To go to Egypt as a tourist, you must have an electronic ID still valid for at least six months. Also, the card must come with two photos that are the size of a passport (in the absence of no entry visa being issued). If your destination country has an embassy or consulate in Italy, or if you have a travel agency in Italy, they may be able to help you get a passport and find out any new rules that may have been put in place since your last trip. Egypt’s government would not accept even if the ID card were renewed with a paper voucher. The Egyptian government will not get the ID card with more information.
General information about the entry visa
The paper says that visas listed on it must be obtained from an Egyptian consulate or embassy. If your main reason for going to the country is to go on vacation, you can get a visa at any airport for 15 USD or the Euro equivalent. If you have a valid ID card and want to go to Egypt, your ticket will be attached to a voucher you must fill out at the airport. Two photos from your passport will also be taken (which must be brought with you from Italy).
Are there any vaccines that tourists to Egypt should get or must they get?
Yellow fever vaccination certificates are required for all visitors over the age of one coming from a risk area, such as certain countries in Sub-Saharan Africa or West Africa. This is the only shot that the law says you have to get (so it is not required for compatriots coming directly from Italy).
We ask that you follow a few rules to ensure you have a fun and safe vacation. These rules are only in place to protect the health and safety of our guests from any Mattia.
What currency is there in Egypt? How much is it worth?
When changing foreign cash into the local currency, there are no fees for transactions less than $10,000. But more detailed reporting is needed to avoid trouble for not reporting enough. No matter what, you can’t leave Egypt with more than 5,000 Egyptian pounds in cash. After talking with the Governor of the Central Bank, the Prime Minister may make a law that changes the current limits. If you want to go to another tourist city like Alexandria, Sharm El Sheikh, Marsa Alam, Luxor, Aswan, etc., or if you’re going to buy some old Pharaonic-era goods from the Khan El Khalili market, you should have enough money on your credit or debit card. Since this is the case, you won’t have to worry as much if you have a medical emergency while you’re there.
What are the customs controls?
One bottle of soft or super alcohol and one carton of cigarettes are not allowed in carry-on luggage. After entering the country, visitors have 24 hours to buy up to three more bottles of alcohol and three more cartons of cigarettes from licensed businesses. Also, some rules say you can’t bring cigarettes or other tobacco products. Those who exceed the limits set could be fined up to 3000% more than the original duty.
