Pyramid of Menkaure
Most people agree that the third and smallest of the great pyramids at Giza was built by the Egyptian pharaoh Menkaure (Mycerinus in Greek). It is thought that it was finished at the end of the 26th century BC. Egypt was called the Land of the Pyramids during the 4th Dynasty of the Old Kingdom. This was when Menkaure and the other builders of the other pyramids at Giza were in charge.
During this time, the pyramids of Giza were being built. He is thought to have taken over for Khafre, even though historical accounts and archeological evidence that support this do not match up. Khafre was the person in charge of building the second pyramid and the Great Sphinx.
Who was the ancient Egyptian king Menkaure?
Pharaoh Menkaure was the fifth ruler of the Old Kingdom of Egypt during the Fourth Dynasty. He was in charge of Egypt when it was young. After his father, Pharaoh Khafre, and mother, Queen Khamerernebty I, he took the throne. Was their child. No one knows how long Menkaure was king, but it is thought that his rule began around the year 2530 BC.
He is also known by the Greek name Mykerinos, and most of his fame comes from the Pyramid of Menkaure at Giza, which is his tomb. Queen Khamerernebty II and Queen Rekhetre are thought to have been at least two of Menkaure’s wives. Some of his half brothers, like Nebemakhet, Duaenre, and Nikaure, worked as viziers while he was king.
the building of the Great Pyramid of Menkaure:
The Pyramid of Menkaure in Giza is the smallest of the three main pyramids there. It is right in the middle of the Giza plateau. Amazing things can be said about both its height (about 62 meters) and the length of each side of its square base (103 meters, or 339 feet). Each side of its square base is 103 meters long (215 feet).
Since some of the granite stones are broken, it’s possible that Menkaure didn’t live long enough to finish the project. Menkaure’s successor, Shepseskaf, probably stopped building the pyramid around the year 2510 B.C. Shepseskaf built the Great Pyramid of Giza.
The pyramid was made from millions of different pieces of granite, limestone, and other types of stone. On the plateau of Giza, the 5,000 to 20,000 people who helped build the pyramids lived with their families. With the help of these people, the pyramids were built.
