Siwa Oasis
Travelers who have been to many other deserts often say that Siwa Oasis is the most beautiful desert spot they have ever been to. Because the area has a calm and pleasant vibe, it is a great place to spend time. It is in a place in nature that is absolutely beautiful. From Bahariya, you can either go through the desert to reach the road that goes down to Marsa Matruh on the northern shore, or you can go straight through the desert until you reach the road that goes to the Adrere Amellal eco-lodge in Siwa. You will end up on one of these two roads no matter what.
There is also an air service, but you will need to plan ahead to find out when flights leave from Cairo. Not only are there no well-known hotel chains in the country, but there are also very few places to stay that are of really high quality and level of luxury. Prince Charles stayed at one of these hotels during his trip to the country in 2006. Adhere Amellal is having a great time at the Siwa Eco-Lodge, where she is staying. Even though it is surrounded by lakes that are so salty that you can’t fish in them, Siwa is known for its olive groves and palm gardens that are hundreds of years old. Siwa’s good name has been around for a very long time.
Most people agree that the olives and bottled water made in Siwan are some of the best and cleanest in the country. This claim has a good chance of being true since there is no activity that makes anything that could even be a little bit called pollution. When it was first lived in, Siwa was home to two different ethnic groups. The Bedouins are semi-nomadic people who live in villages on the edge of the oasis. They are different from the Swans who also have Berber roots but live in more permanent villages. Bedouin women, unlike their Siwan counterparts, wear clothes in public and spend less time alone than other women in the area.
When people go to Siwa, they will be amazed by what is left of Old Shali, a mud town that was abandoned in the 1980s because most of the people who lived there had severe mental disabilities. It is close to the new town of Shali and looks like a ruined fort made of mud pies. You can get there by going through the tunnels at night, but you have to be very careful at all times. Alexander the Great went to the Oracle of Siwa in 331 B.C., which is thought to be the main reason why the city became so well-known.
When he finally got to the Oracle, legend says he asked, “Will I rule the world?” The answer from the Oracle was, “Yes, but not for very long.” The supposed location of the Oracle is just one of many tourist spots that can be seen. Others include Cleopatra’s pool and an old town that has been left to ruin.
Siwa has the most extensive history of making things by the hand of any oasis, and the pottery made there is a great example of this. Here, you can buy ceramic tajin, which are sometimes called “Saharan cooking pots.” Instead of using kilns, bread ovens were used to make and bake this tajin. Most of the time, the most beautiful wedding dresses are made by women who wear more simple clothes in their everyday lives.
Siwa music:
As a musician, you will quickly find out that people in Siwan have a lot of artistic skills and flexibility. As a standard practice, musicians usually keep up a high level of preparation all year long. This is because music is such an important part of all of the Siwans’ four annual festivals and weddings. By far, most people go to the Siayha festival. Anyone who lives in or near the Jebel Dakhour area is welcome to go. The event will last for three days, and during that time, people will eat, dance, and sing.
